Maison & Objet 2011

Paris 9>13.09.2011

Maison & Objet, Paris newsletter

A result of the partnership between IL CASONE, DE CASTELLI and FRASSINAGODICIOTTO is the exhibition that will take place at Maison & Objet (Paris, 9-13 September) at the pavilion dedicated to outdoor decoration.

There are two settings:the first revolves around the structure designed by Philippe Nigro for De Castelli on the occasion of the Salone del Mobile 2010, now in the production phase and available as a sneak preview in Paris. The structure, a pergola, is made up of a base module and two additional modules at different heights, enabling it to be replicated and adapted to different spaces and requirements.

The second setting simulates an “open-air living” environment, a space designed for outdoor relaxation. In this environment, the vast 5 metre-tall wall, which is composed of alternating tarnished copper panels, cracked Pietra Serena (90x45, silk finish) and greenery, represents the synergy between the three companies. The same modularity also appears in the paving, with alternating Pietra Serena (decking stone 20x160, silk finish) and greenery.

IL CASONE tra i sostenitori dell’iniziativa

XfafX

Milan Furniture Show 2011

From 12 to 17 April, IL CASONE Pietra Serena takes centre stage at 3 locations dedicated to design and all that is
../../media/post/pag_674.jpg

The three locations are “150 Y Italian Beauty”, “Posti di Vista” and the Corradi stand, where this year innovative interpretations of Pietra Serena are being displayed with IL CASONE’s reply to the wishes and needs of designers and architects. 6 three-dimensional textures designed to emphasise grain and contrasts between light and shadow.

“150 Y ITALIAN BEAUTY” (Via Montenapoleone 6, 10:30 a.m. – 9:30 p.m.)
IL CASONE Pietra Serena in an exhibition celebrating all that is “Made in Italy” for the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Italian unification

To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy exploring the beauty of “Made in Italy" design: this is the spirit behind architect Roberto Semprini’s concept “150 Y Italian Beauty”. The concept is based on an interpretation of the anniversary of Italy’s unification via a creative use of the three colours of the Italian flag. Green, the colour of nature, representing growth and harmony, will surround the outdoor objects; White, understood as purity, will be the place dedicated to the cure of mind and body; Red, the colour of passion, will represent objects charged with energy, associated with fire and movement.
It is in this setting that IL CASONE presents various creative projects, which have also been devised by the architect Roberto Semprini, portraying the theme of Italian Beauty through a unique material representative of Italian architectural tradition: Pietra Serena.

Nuance. 6 new Pietra Serena textures
The NUANCE concept is the result of an association between Lithos Design and Il Casone: 6 stone textures created with digitally controlled machines, which can therefore be perfectly reproduced, and which highlight the aesthetic and tactile potential of Pietra Serena. The 6 models, in 80 x 40cm format, were conceived by designer Raffaello Galiotto, who thus gave life to a project that emphasises contrasts between light and shadow, animating surfaces and creating infinite shades of grey. Vello, Vena, Scorcio, Tartan, Risma and Crine are all interpretations of new design trends which, with a minimalist feel, combine the rediscovery of the consistency, enhanced by grains, waves and contrasts of light and shadow.

Where: 150 Y Italian Beauty – via Montenapoleone 6, Sala Bianca (White Room) – Bagutta, first floor
When: 12-17 April 2011, 10:30 a.m.-9:30 p.m.
Dimensions: 80 x 40cm
Material: IL CASONE Pietra Serena
Designer: Raffello Galiotto

“BERNINI” FIREPLACES
The “Bernini” bioethanol fireplaces pay homage to the twisted columns conceived by sculptor Lorenzo Bernini in 1624 for St. Peter's baldachin in St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican City. IL CASONE Pietra Serena is moulded into a winding shape which runs across the vertical axis, thus seconding the experimentation with spirals much favoured by Roberto Semprini. These fireplaces are objects with unique personalities and can be used to characterise a contemporary outdoor or indoor environment, but they are also suitable for a more classic setting thanks to the elegance and sophistication of the forms and materials.

“PROFILO ITALIANO” WALL LIGHT
A Pietra Serena slab emulating, for the occasion, the silhouette of the beloved Italian boot shape, half-lying across the horizontal axis. This unusual wall light exudes a nostalgic tricolour glow around its perimeter.

“ITALIA” Free standing washbasins

These washbasins made from IL CASONE Pietra Serena can be used on their own, or together as an unusual collection, spelling out ITALIA in 3D letters. On their own, they lend themselves to a contemporary bathroom milieu, with their youthful, creative, playful spirit, free from rigid rules of style. They can also bring a unique touch of originality to spas, swimming pools and fitness centres.
The grey-bluish colour of the Pietra Serena lends itself well to neutral colour combinations, but also to more daring schemes, playing on contrast and contraposition.

POSTI DI VISTA. Fabbrica del Vapore, via Procaccini 4 and via Luigi Nono 7, Milan 10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
A project created by Luca Scacchetti highlights the chromatic and planning potential of Pietra Serena

For the 2011 “Posti di Vista design sensibile”, at the Fabbrica del Vapore, the objective is to actively participate in the growth of an "alternative" design, sensitive to a wide and structured environmental, cultural and economic sustainability.
Among the themes proposed is “The inhabited space - the search for the good life within interior home design”. Precisely for this context Luca Scacchetti devised “La città dei segni sottili” (“The city of subtle signs”), a structured journey, the entrance to which is marked by stone walls where a series of peaks and the overlapping of forms create long shadows.
Fragments, marks and textures reinvent decorative plasters and cements from Milanese basements. There is textured graffiti where the light carves subtle marks into the surfaces.
Every now and again, bright illuminated niches open left and right: they are four spaces of reduced dimensions, four micro-rooms, four places of water and stone. Absolute and almost metaphysic, and so Milanese in their shades of grey, the distinctive character of Pietra Serena is now washed out by water, now just damp, now dry.
The journey finishes in a flooring made out of recomposed wood from which outdoor furniture is made, or from remoulded wood or Pietra Serena.

../../media/post/pag_672.jpg

Among these is the “Citizen” bench, a system of seats, lights, bins, bike racks, flowerboxes, information signs and fountains that flow over groups of thick and not so thick, slender, tall and thin, low and wide, horizontal and vertical blocks of IL CASONE Extraforte stone slabs. The Pietra Extraforte, expressed in varied ways through the workmanship, allows a kaleidoscope of forms, functions and an endless range of greys, for a new and contemporary use of our public spaces.

IL CASONE in association with CORRADI GROUP. “CORTILE CORRADI” – “CORRADI COURTYARD”.
Milan-Rho Show (Pavilion 12, P. 1 Stand F22)

For the occasion of the Furniture Show, IL CASONE is helping the Corradi Group organise the “Cortile Corradi” (“Corradi Courtyard”). The 120m² space is not a flowery meadow stretching into the distance as far as the eye can see, but a brick wall which surrounds and frames the courtyard. Here the material chosen for the setting fits in perfectly with the metropolitan milieu, with alternating IL CASONE Pietra Serena, Pietra Extraforte and Colombino slabs. The tones of grey and dark grey create colour combinations which first fade into one another and then go on to create striking contrasts, bringing life to a courtyard which is an ideal frame for the exhibition objects. The aesthetic characteristics of the materials work in perfect harmony with their resistant and durable qualities, something which makes these materials particularly suited to covering terraces, urban paths and landscaping.
